Dreame Robotic Lawn Mower | What does the Mid-360 LiDAR do?

2023-10-13

Dreame's first perimeter wire free robotic lawn mower, the Dream Roboticmower A1, debuted at the IFA exhibition. This smart robotic lawn mower uses the Mid-360 lidar for navigation, obstacle avoidance and multiple other functions.

In 2023, Livox officially announced the release of an all-new hybrid solid-state lidar: the Mid-360. LIVOX Mid-360 has received widespread acclaim for its revolutionary design: Though small in size, it offers outstanding performance, making it suitable for unmanned forklifts, robots, L4 logistics vehicles, and a wide range of other smart products.

Recently, the leading home appliance manufacturer Dreame announced its latest robotic lawn mower for the international market, the Dreame Roboticmower A1, which is equipped with the Livox Mid-360 lidar.

Let's take a look at what the Mid-360 is capable of!

Dreame Roboticmower A1

In September of this year, Dreame's first perimeter wire free robotic lawn mower, the Dream Roboticmower A1, debuted at the IFA exhibition. This smart robotic lawn mower uses the Mid-360 lidar for navigation, obstacle avoidance and multiple other functions.

The Mid-360's high-precision lidar detection range can reach 70 meters, with an ultra-wide FOV at 360°×59°, allowing it to sense spaces in all directions and build 3D maps efficiently and precisely.

In addition, the Dreame Roboticmower A1 is equipped with U Path Planning technology, which ensures neat mowing while also improving mowing efficiency.

When it comes to critical functions like navigation and positioning, robotic lawn mowers with RTK technologies are prone to losing signal reception, particularly in situations where they have to pass through buildings, trees and other obstacles. Unlike other lawn mowers that passively rely on the signals from GPS base stations, the Mid-360 lidar is an active sensor which produces it’s own light signals to detect surroundings, and thus ensures more reliable and efficient mowing.

Dreame’s smart obstacle avoidance system, with the Mid-360 lidar can achieve 3D omnidirectional obstacle avoidance and identify over 10 types of common obstacles in yards, making the mowing process safer and smoother.

GearBrain, a top American consumer digital media outlet, rated the Dreame Roboticmower A1 as "Editors' Choice"; Newsweek gave the A1 the "Best of IFA" award in recognition of its innovations in the field of boundary-less smart mowing.

Livox

Livox Technology Company Limited (Livox) is an independent company founded through DJI's internal incubation program and dedicated to the development of 3D lidar technology.

Livox was founded in 2016 with the resolve to break through technological barriers in the lidar industry and reduce the threshold for mass production by producing high-quality, reliable, and cost-efficient lidar sensors that can be applied in a wide range of fields, including the automotive industry, smart cities, surveying and mapping, and mobile robots.

Over the past few years, Livox has applied for 587 patents for its unique sensor designs and rotating mirror hybrid solid-state lidar technology. Since the Mid product series was rolled out in January 2019, Livox has served more than 1500 customers, from 26 countries and regions, including the United States, Canada, China, Japan, and the European Union.
