Hookii Robotic Lawn Mower | Smart Technology Aided by Mid-360 LiDAR

2023-10-13

With the assistance of Mid-360 lidar technology, Hookii's HOOKII Neomow X robotic lawn mower offers exceptional performance, providing users with a smarter and more efficient lawn mowing solution.

In an increasingly competitive market for robotic lawn mowers, smart technology is the key to staying ahead of the competition. Boundary sensing, precise positioning, navigation and obstacle avoidance are particularly important for robotic lawn mowers. In this context, the Livox Mid-360 lidar has provided revolutionary improvements in smart navigation and smart obstacle avoidance for robot lawn mowers.

Recently, Livox teamed up with Hookii to develop a new generation of smart robotic lawn mowers.

In August of this year, Hookii unveiled the HOOKII Neomow X, a robotic lawn mower with LiDAR SLAM technology, on Kickstarter. Within 15 minutes, Hookii had raised more than 500,000 USD, and its Neomow X smart robotic lawn mower was the subject of much praise.

HOOKII Neomow X

The HOOKII Neomow X robotic lawn mower is equipped with the Livox Mid-360 lidar. With the aid of the Mid-360's high-precision lidar, the Neomow X can achieve 360° omnidirectional sensing of the surrounding environment with precise positioning and mapping, enabling it to avoid nearby obstacles.

For robot lawn mowers with GPS technology common garden obstacles can easily block, the GPS signal from the base station, resulting in positioning errors, deviation from the planned route and other issues.

The Mid-360 is not dependent on passive locating equipment like RTK, it detects with it’s own light signals. It helps the HOOKII Neomow X to seamlessly circumvent trees, flower beds and other obstacles. This ensures full coverage of the lawn, minimising redo tasks, mowing duration, and running costs.

According to comprehensive test results, when faced with limited space beneath trees, overhanging roofs and other complex environments, the Mid-360 can work reliably without constraints, significantly improving efficiency.

Unlike RTK, which is easily affected by signal interference, the Mid-360 lidar can be used both indoors and outdoors, thus allowing the HOOKII Neomow X charging station to be installed indoors for maximum convenience.

With the assistance of Mid-360 lidar technology, Hookii's HOOKII Neomow X robotic lawn mower offers exceptional performance, providing users with a smarter and more efficient lawn mowing solution.

Livox Technology Company Limited (Livox) is an independent company founded through DJI's internal incubation program and dedicated to the development of 3D lidar technology.

Livox was founded in 2016 with the resolve to break through technological barriers in the lidar industry and reduce the threshold for mass production by producing high-quality, reliable, and cost-efficient lidar sensors that can be applied in a wide range of fields, including the automotive industry, smart cities, surveying and mapping, and mobile robots.

Over the past few years, Livox has applied for 587 patents for its unique sensor designs and rotating mirror hybrid solid-state lidar technology. Since the Mid product series was rolled out in January 2019, Livox has served more than 1500 customers, selling products to 26 countries and regions, including the United States, Canada, China, Japan, and the European Union.
